Join us for Heroes without Capes 2023!

The Heroes Without Capes Awards event honors the people in our community who help protect children from abuse. The Children’s Advocacy Center has worked for over 25 years to ensure abuse ends and healing begins, but we know that it takes all of us to make that vision a reality. Awardees show us what it means to take on responsibility for safety, healing and compassion for children, while also ensuring accountability for abusers. The evening will be entertaining and elegant … a true celebration of the heroic, everyday efforts that make our community a safer place for children.

The event will be held at La Paloma Resort. View foyer and ballroom where event will be held.

Heroes Without Capes Award Nomination Form

Please fill out the form below with your nominee, making sure they meet the criteria we are looking for. At the end of the nomination period a winner for each category will be chosen and awarded. You are welcome to submit multiple nomination forms.

The nomination period will end on March 31st, 2023!

Safety Award

Protecting children from abuse/neglect 

Criteria:
  • Stands in the way of abuse
  • Educates caregivers/adults
  • Creates a safe space for children
  • Helps others recognize/report abuse

Healing Award

Helping children heal from abuse/neglect

Criteria:
  • Supports children after the abuse
  • Helps parents/caregivers support their child
  • Provides healing services

Accountability Award

Holding Abusers accountable

Criteria:
  • Investigates or prosecutes interpersonal violence
  • Considers the needs of the victim over prosecution
  • Ensures fairness to the accused

Compassion Award

 Supporting those who help children

Criteria:
  • Advocates for the needs of caregivers/professionals
  • Addresses how personal experience colors this work
  • Seeks balance between victim and caregiver needs

Dan Gregory Memorial Award

Professional dedication to child victims

Criteria:
  • Job must be clearly focused on victim services, investigation, or child welfare
  • Minimum 5 years in the field
  • Goes “above and beyond” for child victims

]]> In the following weeks, David Kamara, the new director of Community Development will be reaching out to local establishments to connect them to our cause for the children and families of the Children’s Advocacy Center. Our yearly Hope and Healing for the Holidays event is a toy drive and fundraiser, providing happiness and comfort to children who have experienced some trauma and hurt. Join us in hosting and accepting one of our toy drive boxes and/or contributing to our gift funds. Your participation will be recognized by your patrons; the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southern Arizona will acknowledge those who host a drive and those who raise funds. We want to thank you in advance for your support and help in turning frowns upside down this holiday season! All contributions are tax-deductible as the CAC is a registered non-profit and a public charity recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS under Section 501 (c)(3).

Thank you to the Foothills Club of Tucson for choosing the Southern Arizona Children’s Advocacy Center to receive funding for our Child and Family Support program.  Their generous donation will make a difference in the lives of many child victims by providing books, toys, and healthy snacks.  These small items make a big difference to children as they begin the healing process from the abuse the have suffered.

The Foothills Club of Tucson is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 2007 by local business professionals and civic leaders who wanted to give back to their community. Their mission is to support the goals of non-profit organizations in our community that directly impact youth in need. Members meet monthly to network and trade business news and ideas, plan special fundraising events and are introduced to the various organizations we fund on a quarterly basis.

The Foothills Club of Tucson is dedicated to ensure funds are raised to assist children in need in Southern Arizona. They award numerous grants quarterly to organizations for programs and services that support youth in need in our community. And they support a variety of other local community needs specifically identified by club members.
